LED Eyelashes by Soomi Park

Sunday, May 2, 2010

In 2008, Korean multimedia artist and graphic designer Soomi Park had an idea and perhaps a solution for Asian women who desire bigger eyes — the LED Eyelashes.  Powered by batteries, these futuristic LED ocular illuminations seem to accentuate otherwise smallish eyes (of a dissatisfied Asian girl), giving them the illusion of something grander.  Let’s get some visuals:

“Is there a scooter-related application”, you may ask.

Of course, the answer is YES.  Higher (night-time) visibility and safety would mostly likely be the two primary motivations, from the point of view a scooterist, to take Miss Park’s idea, its inspiration in a different direction and combine it with say…

And come up with something like this:

Looks nice, doesn’t it (even if it’s only Photoshoped)?!

Charles from Lake Charles (!) utilized the Alpena Flexible LED Strips from AutoZone for a slightlydifferent application; but I thought they were impressively bright and effective at night.

On Charles’ Diamo Torino 150 (sans a front fender):

Two types -- forward-, or side-illuminating (Charles chose the forward-type)

Maybe there’s an LED light/scooter mod in your future, thanks to women who won’t settle for anything less than big eyes.–Lorenzo
