Bluebonnets Spotted Along Hwy-69

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Well, you will just have to take my words for it.  They were pretty though, patches of  bluebonnets just north of Kountze, even when viewed at 65-mph…

According to Geyata Ajilvsgi, author of Wildflowers of Texas, the bloom period of bluebonnets is March~May, so these roadside variety that I saw must be the early-bloomers. How easily Mother Nature’s creations get fooled (by Mother Nature) into thinking that spring is already here. Usually, they are in full bloom around tax time in these parts of Texas.–Lorenzo

I spotted bluebonnets along Hwy-124 in Fannett yesterday on the way to Galveston; and today again in Beaumont. Spring is HERE, baby!
