Honda…There’s No Love Here

Saturday, February 14, 2009

The scooter page of Honda Powersports’ website has received a make-over for 2009.  Did I hear any fanfare?  Well, there was none.  As far as any new scooter model to bring back the excitement, the answer is a resounding “NO!”  The future for Honda in the US scooter market is, just like the predominant color of its page, gloomy.

“Street Smart.

The scooter has come of age. And in this climate of high gas prices, not a moment too soon. For almost half a century, Honda has been committed to making alternative transportation powerful, dependable, sophisticated, and, above all else, fun. Find out why you still meet the friendliest people on a Honda.”

This is apparently how Honda wants you to believe; but at least in US, we all know that the fun has stopped years ago. Where are the choices? Where is the innovation? To comment or to voice your disappointment (of the lameness of its line-up), please call Honda Motorcycle Division: (866)784-1870, often.–Lorenzo

**Update:  Well, it’s about time!  Honda finally announced that the SH150i will be coming to America!!  Read about it HERE.

    Hello all,
Honda is not importing (other) scooters because they can not sell enough of them to make a profit. 1,000 big ruckus sold in USA in 2005 with only 1,500 in 2006.
Do not be sad you still have three good choices. Kymco is coming out with a 300 model, Vespa is coming out with a 300 model and SYM Citycom 300 is already in the states. All of these scooters have very good reviews and look great.

    Ed,
It’s time to have your friend’s sister in London send you the Honda SH300i you’ve been wanting (in boxes as parts). Good luck!
