Oh, SH…It’s Finally Here?

Thursday, August 21, 2008

Now, how many wonderful, superlative-filled reviews of the amazingly incredible (Italian) Honda SH300i must we read in hopeless agony…

…before someone at American Honda has an ounce of business sense to finally bring these badass mf’kers over here.  Well, here’s another one from TheScooterReview.Com.  Just to let you know, this ride won’t be cheap.  Expect an MSRP around $7,000 US.  (Hey, but you’re getting a Honda, right?!)  Feel free to comment here; or to express your individual frustration against the current and impending future malaise at AHMCO.  Let’s hope that someone important at American Honda is actually reading this (yeah, right!?); and that one day, many joyful American scooterists would be able to exclaim,”Oh, I love it–my SH !“–Lorenzo

It is killing me!! I really want Honda to bring the SH300i over to the US. It would be a great scooter to have in the type of city that I live in. It is nimble for the city and big enough for the Highway. It would be a joy to have a scoot that has the European flare that I love, the dependability and the convenience of having a dealership near, so that I don’t have trailer to another town. I have had my 2005 Metropolitan for almost 3 years now, and it has been a blast and maintenance free! Honda, I am begging with sugar on top! This would be the perfect scooter for me. Let’s do this for 2009! I am ready!

It would be cheaper if Honda simply makes them here. But sorry Lindsay, that won’t happen (at least not until I’m too old to scoot). Honda will never bring them to US (maybe they don’t know how hotcakes sell). You can start a petition, though…you and all of the disappointed Honda-fans in America, including me.–Lorenzo

Hey L! A little birdie told me that Honda will announce “a big wheeled scooter” for the US market at the November dealer meeting. That’s all I know… only rumors.

That’s very encouraging news coming from Steve, don’t y’all think so? Perhaps, this will be the “Year of the Honda SH”! I will be quoting Steve everyday until we finally see the real thang, you know. Let’s hope it’s all true, let’s hope so…–Lorenzo

I am the proud owner of a Honda SH 300 ! yes, but I’m French… Believe me, this machine is incredibly fit for the US market as cities are crowded and as it is so difficult to speed… Mine has reached 800 miles and can easily ride over 90 miles per hour. More than sufficient. The only thing that you will need is a topcase because there is hardly any room under the seat. I do hope that you will get this lovely scooter which only consumes a bit less than 4 litres per 100 kms, which is around 61 mpg 🙂

Merci beaucoup, Monsieur Constanzo. You don’t know how insanely jealous I am right now, as well as many others here in US I am sure. Drooling uncontrollably while reading those tantalizing words of yours about the SH doesn’t even begin to describe how many of us have been craving for something as substantial as this from Honda (Italy). If only American Honda will deliver… Let’s hope so.–Lorenzo

Yesterday at the Motorcycle Show in Houston, an official Honda rep told me,”If you were disappointed last year and this year, you’re gonna be disappointed again next year…”. After listening to that bull_hit, I wasn’t any angrier than before about Honda not making up their mind on bringing the good stuff (SH300i). Just a little more disappointed because the decision, or the lack of it, seems like a total marketing failure and very much counter to the founding principles of Honda and the spirit of Soichiro Honda.

Yeah! so let’s all write to Honda (I’ve written three times) and ask them why in the hell WE have neither the “Super Cub” (the most produced vehicle in the world (over 60 million+) originally introduced only to the U.S. in 58′ as a 50cc. 4-Stroke! . . Yes! a four-stroke! and now the “SH” . . I have no idea as to why they adamantly refuse and no one at Honda seems to give a Rat’s-patoot. Shit! and we claim to be the land of the “Free” with supposed “Freedom” to choose.Hell! England has a “Gray-Bike” arrangement where anyone can bring anything in and handle/sell models that the mfgrs. aren’t particularly interested in promoting for one reason or another. Persevere and send off those letters, post haste!
