Port Neches Riverfest

Monday, May 5, 2008

On Sunday, Ed, Larry, Denny, his wife Dewetta, and I rode down to the Port Neches Riverfest to check out the Bike Show. We met Duane, Michael, Pam and the rest of the ABATE gang at the Park. Denny entered in the new “Scooter” category and managed to walk away with a First Place trophy! I was invited by ABATE to be a judge for the “Classic” category (thanks, Dave). Afterward, Ed, Larry and I enjoyed a “pretty straight-forward” Mexican dinner at La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant in Port Arthur. Larry and Ed left for home after dinner; but the day was still fantastic so I joined up with Denny and Dewetta again for a quick tour to Louisiana via Pleasure Island. Apparently, all of our talks about bridge-climbing got Denny interested enough to attempt the MLK Bridge, so we went. As they say, the rest is history. Good for them both.

The following is a slide show of Sunday’s activities. The first photos are courtesy of Denny; and the rest are mine. Let me be the first to apologize for the lack of scooter photos, for as you will see, much of the afternoon was filled with details of American steel, chrome and paint. Weather was amazing, too; but you just had to be out there to enjoy it!–Lorenzo
