(Saturday, March 15th, 2008)

What a day! Exhausted; yet contented. Thought that I should at least post some snapshots of our day, including our visits to Shangri La Botanical Gardens in Orange, Scootersmith II, and Rao’s Bakery in Nederland. Check back later for a little more. For now, please enjoy the photos.–Lorenzo

It was an unusually warm and muggy day.

I think the camera is broken now, Ron?

This space is reserved for scooters. Half-dozen scooters.

Scootersmith II, Nederland.

Larry (Elliott) stands proudly behind his scooter(s).

Larry and Ron.

Ron and Larry.

Dennis Sattler and his ’74 Honda XL100.

RG can’t wait to take her for a spin.

Owner’s wife has great tastes. Should bring her to the NRF Parade!

Rao’s gets it! What a combination!

Looks great; yet this Italian work of art was built to be ridden.

Today In History:

Caesar summoned the Senate to meet in the Theatre of Pompey on the Ides of March. A certain seer warned Caesar to be on his guard against a great peril on the day of the month of March which the Romans call the Ides; and when the day had come and Caesar was on his way to the senate-house, he greeted the seer with a jest and said: “The Ides of March has come,” and the seer said to him softly: “Aye, Caesar, but not gone.”[3]

As the Senate convened, Caesar was attacked and stabbed to death by a group of senators who called themselves the Liberatores (“Liberators”); they justified their action on the grounds that they committed tyrannicide and were preserving the Republic from Caesar’s alleged monarchical ambitions. The beautiful Shangri La sustained significant amount of damage as a result of Hurricane Ike and is temporarily closed for repair. No words yet on when it will reopen. Soon, I hope.–Lorenzo
